Keeping in mind hassles faced by people residing in Bangladesh and India, a train route was initiated between Dhaka and Kolkata on April 14, 2008. This was the first time a train was started between these two places and it helped people greatly in commuting from one place to other. With this initiative, officials tried to dismiss differences between the countries and improve relations amidst people. This train was known as “Maitree Express” that means friendship. Since then railway officials of both the countries are working hard to bring modifications so that travelers have to face less difficulties. The reduced time for customs is result of their efforts only.
Since the Maitree Express runs between two countries, it was decided that half time of the year Indian railways would be responsible for it and rest of the year Bangladesh Railways. This agreement has resulted in avoiding any kinds of discrepancies and smooth functioning of the train. The railways of both the countries assigned numbers to the train mutually so that passengers do not face any confusion in later stages. Talking about BR Rake, train running from Dhaka to Kolkata bears the number 3107 and from Kolkata to Dhaka it is 3108. Now for IR Rake, train from Kolkata to Dhaka is 3109 and from Dhaka to Kolkata is 3110.

the train, it is important to have prior knowledge about days on which
